Sprintax (Tax Filing Code)

 

You can file your taxes online as an international student with a code from the GSO. All you need to do is:
(1) Register and follow the simple instructions here: https://www.sprintax.com/uni-lp.html?utm_ref=stonybrooklp&utm_content=prmc

(2) Complete the online questionnaire

Enter the code SSB2016B for Federal tax filing and the code SSB20165 for State tax filing in the box on the ‘Review your order’ page.

(4)
Sprintax will prepare your tax return and check if you are due a refund.
After you enter all your information, you will pay $2 for Federal and $20.95 for State.

 

GSO Elections

 

The deadline for nominations for the GSO Executive Committee is coming up! You don't have to be a GSO senator to run - you just need to come to at least 2 Senate Meetings (the next 2 are March 7th and April 4th at 5:30 PM) and have a GPA above 3.0! We need candidates to run in order for democracy to function! 
The annual compensation for the positions are $5,500 for President and Treasurer and $4,500 for Vice President and Secretary.
 
Nomination forms are available on the GSO website at http://sbgso.org/images/Elections_2017-2018/Officer_Elections_2017-2018.docx and are due in the GSO Office, SAC 227, no later than5:00 pm on Friday, March 31

 

 

3 Minute Thesis 2017

Enter the 3MT competition to learn how to communicate your dissertation research to the public and get a chance to win up to $500 (four cash prizes, see page for details)! The idea is simple yet challenging - to condense an 80,000 word thesis into a three minute presentation for a nonspecialist audience using only one powerpoint slide.Videos of previous winners and more information can be found on the 3MT page.

Distinguished Travel Award 2017

 

The Graduate Student Organization (GSO) is currently accepting applications for the Spring 2017  Distinguished Travel Award.

 

DTA applications are for conferences scheduled in the semester after applications are due. This is so that applicants know well in advance whether funding is available for them to attend the conference/event. SPRING 2017 applications are for conferences and events in the second half of the 2017 calendar year (07/01/2017 to 12/31/2017)
