    Fall 2016 Distinguished Travel Award

Fall 2016 Distinguished Travel Award The Graduate Student Organization (GSO) is currently accepting applications for the 2016 Distinguished Travel Award. The Distinguished Travel Award (DTA) is a special line of funding designated to support graduate students who present their work at prestigious conferences, performances and professional meetings that will contribute to and build the national and international reputation of their department and the University. It is a recognition of the applicant's outstanding scholarship and the impact of their work both within their field and academia.
The Distinguished Travel Award was founded in 2011 and is co-funded by the Stony Brook Graduate School and the Graduate Student Organization. Students may receive this award only once during their academic careers at Stony Brook University. Award recipients will be reimbursed after their conference/performance, as per the RAP funding guidelines. Award amounts may not exceed $1,500.
DTA applications are for conferences scheduled in the semester after applications are due. This is so that applicants know well in advance whether funding is available for them to attend the conference/event. FALL 2016 applications are for conferences and events in the first half of the 2017 calendar year (01/01/2017 to 06/30/2017).
Applications are due by Friday 11:59 PM EST on November 18th, 2016. Applications must be submitted electronically to Luigi Pesce Ibarra, GSO Speaker of the Senate (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).

Please read the requirements on the form carefully and check that you include all the documents and information requested. Letters of recommendation can be sent directly to the GSO Speaker email by the person who signs the letter, but sending only one PDF document with all application materials is preferable. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Winners will be announced on December 15th. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to email . This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
